Westlake Ace Hardware Coming to University Place, Wash.

The former Rite Aid site in Green Firs Towne Center will become a full-service neighborhood hardware destination with more than 17,000 square feet of retail space.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (June 11 , 2026) – Ace Retail Group announced today that it will open a new  Westlake Ace Hardware in University Place, Wash. – a prosperous and thriving community of approximately 35,000 residents in the greater Tacoma, Wash. area. Ace Retail Group currently owns and operates five Dennis Company Ace and three Westlake Ace Hardware locations in Washington. 

The new store – formerly a Rite Aid Pharmacy – will be at 3840 Bridgeport Way West (in the Green Firs Towne Center) and will feature more than 17,000 square feet of retail space. Renovations are scheduled to begin late summer 2026, with a soft opening anticipated for early 2027.

The University Place store will feature lawn and garden supplies, fasteners, tools, plumbing, and electrical supplies, and offer such services as key cutting, automotive key fob replacement, STIHL outdoor power equipment repair, carpet cleaning machine rental, and propane tank exchange. 

The store will also showcase several specialty departments — including The Kitchen Connection at Westlake Ace Hardware, a popular store-within-a-store concept offering gourmet foods, cookware, kitchen tools, and linens — and carry such leading brands as:

• Stihl, Ego, and Milwaukee outdoor power equipment
• Benjamin Moore and Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines paints
• Diablo saw blades and power tool accessories
• Milwaukee, DeWalt, and Craftsman power tools
• Weber, Traeger, Blackstone, and Big Green Egg grills and accessories
• Scotts and Miracle-Gro lawn and plant care products
• Yeti, Owala, and Stanley drinkware and coolers

University Place-area businesses, multi-family properties, schools, and municipalities will have access to more than 800,000 products, including commercial lighting, appliances, and safety and cleaning supplies, through the new store’s Westlake Commercial representatives.
